My peeps!

Knitting club was tonight! Me and all the other peeps (besides for Conni. I think she's at some kind of band camp thing) hang out at the library and knit and talk every Monday evening. I really like it better when Conni or Christina are there though. It's sometimes akward to be the youngest one there by at least ten years. It's still pretty fun. A certin person who likes to make other people knit the same thing she's knitting has forced some people who have been coming for longer than I have to make the Wonderfull Wallaby hoodie. I have been resisting peer pressure. Just say no. Is it a little odd to be peer pressured by a woman older than my mother? Yes. Oh well.

I ordered 10 skiens of elann.com yarn on clearence in teal. For The Sweater (not a wallaby!). I'm really excited!

Kool-Aid, Environmentalism, and the Yarn Harlot.

Does everyone want to see pictures of the Kool-Aid dyed shawl thing? Of course you do!

That's the wrong side, but I like it just as much as the other.
This is the pattern on the right side, when stretched out.

So, I've always sort of considered myself to be somewhat of an environmentalist, but now, I'm realizing just how much of an environmental impact my family has.

  1. Up until very recently, we used plastic or paper bags for our groceries. Now my parents are keeping a bunch of canvas bags in the cars to use instead of plastic.
  2. I wear cotton, a crop that requires a lot of chemicals to produce.
  3. My parents drive big cars. Well, my dad has a vibe, which gets like 30 miles/gallon, but still.
  4. Our microwave is still plugged in, even though we never use it...And it shows the wrong time.
Okay. Most people with a clue know that I'm a wee bit obsessed with the Yarn Harlot's blog. I kinda really want to be the yarn harlot if I grow up (the idea of growing up sucks, but if I have to...I wanna be the yarn harlot). She's a good knitter, she lives in a cool city where you don't have to own a car, she's liberal, and she writes books. Why not be the yarn harlot if you really have to grow up?

And just remember "First you are telling your mother that knitting is "boring" and next something horrible has happened....like .....drug addiction, not folding your laundry or ...voting conservative. "

P.S. I may want to knit the totem jacket. still undecided on that.

Deep Breaths

Grrr. My dad was supposed to drive me to the library, then he decided to do a conference call instead and thought that I could just ride my bike to the library. Needless to say, I was 15 minutes late. Yarn picture!

This is the yarn that I'm using for the scarfy shawl kool-aid dyed thing. It's lamb's pride bulky in a white/cream color.

And I forgot to take the link out of my signature when emailing my mom, so she has probably found the blog that we wern't telling the parents about. Yay. Hi mom!

Harry Potter, The sweater (insert amazement here)! And More fun stuffs.

  • I finished Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows on Saturday the 21st at 10:32. Am I bragging? of course! I love it. It's is soooo the best yet. Hi-Lite to read: Why the hell were there soooo many deaths? Fred, Mad Eye, Tonks, Lupin, Dobby, Snape, and I must be forgetting someone. What's with that?

  • So, I've been planning this sweater. This will be my first sweater, so I'm super excited about it! I'm thinking aqua, worsted wool, one biggish cable up the front, and cables on the arm, and at the neck (a v-neck, but not too low!) the cable up the front splits in two. This all works in my head, but I need a yarn....
  • I can't sleep. At all. I did laundry. And put away my clothes and some of my books. And I studied for the health test out. I feel very weird

  • I found V that quiz on a blog someplace. The weird part is that I've never used bamboo needles-I love metal ones!

What kind of knitting needles are you?

You are bamboo.Warm, cozy, and thoughtful, you take your time and enjoy how things feel, smell, and taste. You love the craft and beauty of traditional things, and you value the comfort and experience of knitting as much as the results. But while you are reveling in your warm cozies, don't get stuck. Warm is wonderful, but so is the whole wide world!
